Two Gibraltar films for National Week

Her Majesty’s Government of Gibraltar has been able to secure the rights to show two excellent Gibraltar related films over this National Week.

The first is the highly acclaimed film “Gibraltar” by Gibraltarian producer Anna Garcia, granddaughter of ex-government Minister and Opposition Leader Peter Isola. “Gibraltar” will be transmitted by GBC on Sunday the 9th September at 9.00pm.

Just after that, at 10.30pm, Leisure Cinemas Ltd are projecting the equally highly acclaimed film “La Roca” by Campo film-maker, Raul Santos, on the North Face of the Rock. Sound will be available in the area of Eastern Beach Car Park, which will provide the best vantage point.

The projection of the film will be preceded by a “short” four minute “Happy National Day 2012” which has been commissioned by the Government from Anna Garcia.

Chief Minister, Fabian Picardo said: “These films reflect much of the essence of the Gibraltar we love. One is exclusively seen through the eyes of Gibraltarians. The other through the prism of a Campo resident, critical of the human suffering that the restrictions imposed on Gibraltar caused; something which, unfortunately, remains as relevant today as ever. I hope the people will enjoy these audio-visual reflections on Gibraltar on the eve of National Day 2012.
