THE KEYS were handed over on Monday the 30th July in an official handover at The Convent.

In the presence of His Excellency The Governor Vice Admiral Sir Adrian Johns KCB CBE, WO2 Chris Canepa (33) handed over the keys to incoming Port Sergeant CSgt Steven Wood (34).

WO2 Canepa has been with the Royal Gibraltar Regiment for over 14 years and has spent the last two years as the Port Sergeant. He remembers his time fondly and said: “Each Ceremony of the Keys has been an honor, when we march on all eyes are on the Port Sergeant, and it is a spectacular moment.”

The incoming Port Sergeant CSgt Wood has also been a member of the Royal Gibraltar Regiment for 14 years and has recently returned from a prestigious stint as the Platoon Sergeant for Buckingham Palace where he took part in four guard mounts over a two week period.

CSgt Wood was promoted in May and, on receipt of The Keys, he said: “I am honoured because not everyone gets to do this.”

Following the official handover The Governor thanked WO2 Canepa and said that he had done a splendid job in an important post.
