Probationary officer of the year award

The Royal Gibraltar Police has recently introduced a new award, which recognizes exemplary work during a Probationers first two years of service. The brainchild of Mr Momy Levy the said award is given to a probationer after completing his second year, the recommendation is endorsed by the probationers line managers, and the criteria used is as follows:

• Consistent commitment and enthusiasm to the role, over and above normal expectations.
• Effective operational activity.
• Excellent probationer assessments
• Demonstrated standards of professionalism and competence above normal expectations.

This year the award has gone to two Police Officers namely Pc Stewart FINNEGAN and Pc Darryl ALMAN, the reason for giving the award to two officers is that their performance has been so similar and to such a high standard that the Senior Management Team in consultation with Mr Levy decided that it would be unfair to give the award to only one officer.

On Wednesday 29 August 2012 both officers were presented with the award which is accompanied by a shield by Mr Levy. The Commissioner and members of the SMT were present at the presentation which took place at Police Headquarters.
