Jubilee Celebrations

In Saturday’s brilliant sunshine, Thomson’s Battery of the Royal Gibraltar Regiment fired a 21-Gun Salute to mark the Diamond Jubilee anniversary of Accession to the Throne of Queen Elizabeth II. His Worship the Mayor of Gibraltar, Julio Alcantra MBE was the Reviewing Officer and was accompanied by the Regiment’s Commanding Officer, Lt Col Colin Risso MC.

In the evening the Piazza was packed for a variety show by staged by Santos productions

On Sunday, the focus around Main Street was on food, stalls and music.

With mucical entertainment in the square adjacent to the Elliot Hotel with an atmosphere similar to National Day.

Meantime in the Piazza, whilst the stage from the night before was being dismantled, there was a bouncy castle and a number of stalls,

Meantime at Casemates the candy floss stall was busy

On the Monday the Jubilee Flotilla saled from Ocean Village around the rock to Eastern Beach.

There were boats with a large number of people on board

And smaller ones with large flags

Followed by the elegant, but slower yachts

With the Defence Police on hand to tow the vessel with engine failure.
